Rare Chicken Breeds, French And Clean Legged Marans Chicks.

This rare breed was imported from France and originally had feathered shanks, over time the breed here in the US was bred for clean shanks. Today, show standards are leaning back toward the French feathered shanks, which is the prominent feature of my flock. The Marans Breed is a versatile, large breed chicken good for eating and well known for the extra large dark chocolate colored eggs the hens lay, with a docile nature this breed is an asset to any flock.

Marans: Blue Marans (American Clean Legged) $5.00 each straight run Theses chicks are split and will throw feathered shanks which are the French Standard.
Marans: Black Marans (American Clean Legged) $5.00 each straight run Theses chicks are split and will throw feathered shanks which are the French Standard.

Marans: French Copper Blue Marans chicks $7.00 each straight run.
Marans: French Copper Black Marans chicks $10.00 each straight run.

The Blue Copper Rooster below on the left and hidden behind trees, in the photo below and is also 7 months old. This rooster is what is known as a True Marans from the award winning Mari Kreb Line.

The eggs shown below are at the end of the breeding season and although they are dark, they would be much darker if at the beginning of the season (which is normal) . The eggs shown below are the the eggs presently hatching, and the resulting chicks are the ones being sold here.
