Skills: BS in technology or Electronic Engineering, strong AC and DC theory of operation, telecom design/engineering, RF system programming/maintenance/component level repair/installation on microwave, hand-helds, mobiles, repeaters, base stations, and PBX. Some network experience and project management is desirable.
Job description: This position will serve as a Service Area Technician in Porterville CA with primary maintenance responsibilities for area radio systems and some voice and data. As a service, you will be required to support on call 24/7 operations during high Wildland Fire periods. Additionally, you will have maintenance and program management responsibility for the planning, development, installation, and maintenance of complicated and extensive telecommunications and radio systems. The work requires some physical exertion such as lifting equipment up to 50 pounds and regular and recurring walking, bending, or climbing ladders or towers up to 400 feet to install equipment. There will be extended periods of overnight travel related to radio system installation projects. You must be capable of successfully completing the Forest Service tower certification program.
